The Foundation is expanding and has awarded two operational grants, one to Montgomery Blair High School and the second to Takoma Elementary PTO. An additional 15 project grants were awarded as well.

Funds would be used for the maintenance, repair, reconditioning, and purchase of musical instruments, music instruction software and hardware, performance audio equipment, sheet music, contest entrance fees, transportation expenses, band uniforms, and festival and trip expenses.|

Takoma Elementary is in many ways the mirror of Takoma Park Elementary and faces many of the same challenges. The schools have been going through changes and the TECPTO is working on building a stronger PTO and getting more parents involved in the school.

To help cultivate and leverage relationships with Takoma Park civic and governmental organizations so that low income immigrants can learn about services provided.

Many of the activities and tools for the STE(a)M carts are to be solicited from the school community as in-kind donations in order to demonstrate our community’s commitment to sustainability of the project.

A project to educate the community as well as other schools in the area on a Maryland law (HB 1014) that provides new incentives for low and moderate income families to invest in the state’s college savings accounts via a $250 annual matching grant, in return for contributing more than $25/year.

Parents of Special Needs Adults
Assist in funding a grassroots group of parents and others who are caregivers for adults with special needs. The participants live in the greater Takoma area and are organizing to appeal local and county governments for support of affordable and supportive housing, therapeutic safety, and jobs.
