The Takoma Foundation: Building Community and Changing Lives PDF Print E-mail

The Takoma Foundation, a nonprofit entity, raises funds and makes grants to advance the social, environmental, economic, educational and cultural interests of the greater Takoma Park community.  The Foundation has focused its grant-giving on projects that empower individuals, break down barriers, build connections between people and grow community capacity.

Since 1989 the Takoma Foundation has given away almost $300,000 to groups that make Takoma Park the great place it is to live and work.

The long-term role of the Takoma Foundation is to be a private funding resource for the entire Takoma community.  We are trying our best to determine community goals, and we will award grants as a means of achieving those goals.

Those who have received Foundation grants include local PTAs, the Boys & Girls Club, Historic Takoma, health groups, sports leagues and other local organizations.  The Foundation raised funds to buy equipment for the new Takoma Park Community Center, a center of recreational, civic and educational activities.

The Foundation is a fund of the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) and the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region (CFCNR).  The entities are the legal recipient of any gifts to the Foundation.

All members of the greater Takoma Park community, including residents and business operators in the area, are invited and encouraged to become members of the Takoma Foundation.
