You can still buy a brick!

Would you like to honor someone in your family, or remember a friend, or perhaps commemorate a special occasion like a wedding or your baby's birth?   Why not buy a customized red brick that will be installed for everyone to see in the front walkway of the Takoma Park Community Center.

At the same time you’ll be donating toward one of the worthy local causes funded by the Takoma Foundation -- programs that send food home in school backpacks or help children become better readers, medical tests for the uninsured, public art to soothe the soul and many, many more.  Proceeds from the brick sales go directly into the Foundation’s general fund.

You’ll also be helping to carry forward one of the Foundation’s legacies.  A few years ago we raised more than $150,000 to pay for furnishings at the community center, which opened with a grand ceremony in 2005. 

Almost all those funds came from people who live here, either as a direct contribution or through the purchase of bricks inscribed with personal messages.

But there is room for more bricks with more messages! Each brick costs $150 and contains two lines of inscription, with a maximum of 14 characters per line.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a community tribute. We're thrilled to be a part of it. Join the effort and you'll see how good it feels when you walk through the front doors.
